Sport

Sport is a cornerstone of life at Cranbrook School, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, resilience and a lifelong love of activity. Our extensive sports programme caters to all abilities, offering students the chance to compete at the highest level or simply enjoy the benefits of participation. With top-class facilities and expert coaching, students are encouraged to develop their skills, confidence and character through sport.

Competitive Sport

Cranbrook School has a proud tradition of competitive sport, with teams achieving success at local, regional and national levels. Students have the opportunity to represent the school in a diverse range of sports, including but not limited to:

  • Rugby
  • Netball
  • Hockey
  • Cricket

Our teams compete in regular fixtures, tournaments and festivals, fostering a sense of school spirit and camaraderie.

Inclusive Participation

We believe sport should be for everyone. Alongside competitive teams, Cranbrook School offers a variety of recreational activities designed to encourage all students to stay active, try new sports and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of exercise. Options include fitness classes, running clubs and recreational team sports.

Leadership & Personal Development

Through sport, students develop essential life skills such as leadership, discipline and perseverance. Older students often take on coaching or mentoring roles, supporting younger players and setting an example for their peers. Opportunities like these help build confidence and foster a sense of responsibility.

Facilities

Cranbrook School’s excellent sports facilities include:

  • Astro pitches for hockey and football
  • Cricket pitches and nets (indoor and outdoor)
  • Multi-use sports hall
  • Tennis and netball courts
  • Extensive fields for rugby and athletics

These facilities ensure students have the resources they need to train, play and succeed.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Our focus is not just on competition but on instilling a lifelong appreciation for fitness and well-being. By participating in regular physical activity, students learn the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Sport at Cranbrook School is more than just an activity—it is an integral part of our ethos, helping students to achieve their best both on and off the field.
