James Lee ( Horsley year 11) wins bronze in the 2019 National snowboarding Championships

James Lee (Horsley year 11), recently travelled to Manchester to compete in the 2019 National snowboarding championships (BRITS –  British Indoor Slopestyle Championships).

“The course was super varied, with tons of different jumps, rails, and other features, with a lot of riders competing, from Devon to Glasgow. During practise, I planned the tricks I was going to land in my competition runs (we got two runs each, with the one with the best score counting).

But, when it came to my competition runs, I decided not to spin out of the first rail, as it was a very hard trick, and was too risky at the time. On the first rail, I did a back blunt, landing switch. I then did a switch front lip on the pipe, then hit the jump, doing a backside 360 (the jump was very aggressive, so I didn’t spin very much). Finally, I did a front boardslide on the stall feature, ending my competition run.

After our competition runs, we went back into the room that we registered at and I was placed in third for under 16’s. I was so gassed that I won a bronze medal in the UK national competition , and I can’t wait to get back to Austria to train and compete internationally.”
