Cranbrook School represented at the Kent Secondary Schools swimming competition

The Kent Schools’ Swimming Association (KSSA) Secondary Schools Relay competition was hosted by Thanet Swim club on Saturday 21 September 2019 at Hartsdown Pool in Margate.

This is an annual event where swimmers from secondary schools all over Kent meet with teams to compete in freestyle and medley relays. This is the second year that Cranbrook has participated in the Kent Secondary School swimming competition.

On Saturday, four of our year 8 boys participated in the 2019 relay competition, Hayden Annan, Rafe Rayment, Isaac Warner and Ewan Campbell. The Cranbrook team came 5th in both relays. There was tough competition this year from Sevenoaks, Langley Park, Skinners and Chatham and Clarendon schools.

The year 8 boys said, “I was proud to represent Cranbrook at the secondary schools relay completion” and “it was fun and challenging”.

There were a number of other swimmers keen to participate, and who joined us two weeks ago for a practise session in the school pool. But unfortunately we were not able to make up enough teams of four across all school years.  However, we are hopeful for the future and we are keen to hear from swimmers who would like to help us to build up swimming in the school.

So for your next opportunity Cranbrook swimmers………..the Kent Secondary Schools Individual competition in January 2020.

In January of each year, the KSSA also hold an individual competition and next year it will be hosted again by Thanet in Margate. The date is yet to be confirmed, but will be one Saturday in January.  Any swimmers interested in swimming in individuals races, should keep an eye out for notices over the coming months.
