A unique state boarding grammar school for girls and boys in the Kent countryside.

Cranbrook School

Information and Fees

Applications for Year 9 boarding places are made via Kent County Council (KCC).

For information on how to apply for a boarding place please go to Admissions.

Entrance examinations and boarding suitability interviews for boarding students for September entry take place in the prior November.

In-Year Applications

It is very unusual for the school to have any boarding places available for students applying outside of the normal round of admissions (i.e. entry to Year 9 or Year 12).  Students who wish to make an ‘in-year’ application for a boarding place should contact the Registrar at Cranbrook School.

Fees

As one of the country’s few State boarding Grammar schools, the education provided by Cranbrook School is free to day students and boarders alike. The only charges levied by the Governors go towards boarders’ accommodation and live-in costs.

Boarding Fees for the 2024-2025 academic year:

Boarders starting in Years 9-11 – £5,300 per term (£15,900 per annum)

Boarders starting in Years 12-13 – £6,353 per term (£19,059 per annum)
