A selective school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. Day and Boarding

Cranbrook School - Respect Aspire Achieve

Battle of the Bands! The Results….

The House Shout results were as follows:

Day House Winner: Allan Girls with Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus

Day House Small Group Winner: Horsley Girls with Rumour Has It and Someone Like You by Adele

Boarding House Winner: Cornwallis with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

Boarding House Small Group Winner: Rammell with a mash up of 60’s and 70’s music.

The standard was incredibly high this year and the students all made a superb effort.  The Performing Arts Centre was a busy building with lots of rehearsals taking place and not enough practice rooms to house them all.  Even the foyer was brought into use for a practice space!

The winners were of the Battle of the Bands are as follows:

Carnage at the Co Op (Year 12 students) with their covers Lust for Life by Iggy Pop and Money for Nothing by Dire Straits

Second place went to:

The Outcries (Year 10)  with What’s My Age Again? by Blink 182 and Elevator Song, their own composition.

The competition was very close with the winning team just one point ahead of the second.  It was an excellent evening, the MC was Mr George Bartle and the judges were Mr Guy Denning who has kindly sponsored the First Prize – a recording session at his Recording Studio The Granary Studio near Tunbridge Wells, Mr Robert Greenfield, peripatetic Guitar Teacher at Cranbrook School and Mrs Hastings, who organised the event.  Big thanks go to Kester Hulland-Rumley, Cranbrook School’s Theatre Technician, who put together a fantastic light show for the competitors.
