Sport

Sport is an integral part of life at Cranbrook and we have a reputation for producing well-trained and competitive team players across all age groups in a wide variety of sports.

Our on-site facilities include an outdoor heated swimming-pool, squash courts, 50 acres of playing fields, all-weather Astro-turf pitch and a superb sports-hall equipped with weights gym, cardio suite and dance-studio.  The sports that we offer are traditional and determined by the facilities at Cranbrook.  This is governed by the skills and expertise of our dedicated PE, Games teaching, coaching staff and volunteer parents.

Please view our recent PE celebratory video of online learning below;

The main sports at Cranbrook are rugby, hockey (boys and girls), netball, basketball, cricket, tennis, rounders and athletics.  The majority of students participate in our busy sports programme during the week and Saturdays with fixtures against top grammar and independent schools.  Senior teams are run at 1st/2nd and 3rd levels while each year group has A and B teams and on occasions C and D.  Most of the teams enter county and national cup competitions and are often very successful.  We have also recently introduced rowing in the sixth form, which has already become an extremely popular option.

Inter-House sports competitions are also an inherent part of school life with mixed years working together to develop and enjoy additional team experiences.

As well as team sports we offer a range of fitness and dance activities led by staff, specialist outside teachers and students.  The dance clubs include street, contemporary and musical theatre and work towards choreographed pieces for our annual performance of ‘DanSing’ which is held every year in November.  Yoga has also been a popular new addition for students and staff alike.

Finally, sports tours are a regular feature of the extra-curricular programme at Cranbrook.

We are hoping to visit Sri Lanka in July 2022 to take Hockey, Rugby and Netball. These tours are aimed at the senior years and are by invitation with more local destinations being sought for the younger teams.  To view our last trip to South Africa in 2019, please click here.

We know that most parents want to keep abreast of fixture arrangements and all the latest news.  Fixtures are loaded onto our calendar before the start of each term as much as possible. Team lists and details of the fixtures are added generally a few days prior to the fixture and can be accessed by clicking on the link below.   All fixtures are live and therefore any changes are available immediately.  Cancellations due to weather will also be updated here. Regular checking by both students and parents is encouraged, as we no longer create hard copies of team lists for the notice boards.  You can follow Cranbrook sports via Instagram, please follow us @cranbrook.sport.

The following link Fixtures, Results & Match Directions will take you to more detail about the matches, opponents, location when playing at home and of course travel directions for away fixtures.

Remember that you can access this page on mobile device.  Please open Cranbrook School | Sports Home on a mobile device and save as a “webapp” (icon on the home screen) and it will then operate and behave like a mobile app.  Adding the web app to your home screen will vary dependent on your device and browser.  Here are links to the instructions for Android and Apple iOS: Android | Apple iOS

Covid-19 Restrictions: with regards to school clubs and fixtures these will run as normal, however, due to the absence of fixtures, charges may be reduced.
