Cranbrook School - Respect Aspire Achieve

Drama

The Drama department is based in the Performing Arts Centre. We also occupy or own theatre; The Queen’s Hall Theatre, which hosts curricular, co-curricular and external performances throughout the school year.

There are opportunities for all to participate in the Whole School Production (we alternate between a play and Musical) and the Junior Production. We also perform all GCSE and A Level pieces to a public audience, creating further opportunities for performances.

There are two Junior Drama Clubs – one for years 7, 8 and 9 and the other for years, 9, 10 and 11. Each covering different content and topics.

Students have the opportunity to take LCM examinations within the drama department, from a visiting LCM specialist teacher. The lessons are taught on a peripatetic basis in the Performing Arts Centre.

The Queen’s Hall is largely run by our Theatre Manager and he is supported by our fantastic student led technical team. The students are provided with training in such skills as lighting, sound, and stage-management. The team provide technical support for the range of internal and some external performances in the Queen’s Hall.
