Record funds raised through Charity Walk

This year’s Charity Walk raised a staggering total amount of £15,829.37 – another record. It will do a great deal to support our chosen charities this year which are: Porchlight (a Kent charity for the homeless), The Big Cat Santuary at Smarden, Kent Kindness Refugee Programme, Hawkhurst Cottage Hospital, MIND, The Rainbow Trust (supporting terminally ill children), RNLI, Médecins Sans Frontières, Water Aid and Dementia UK.

The day went extremely well and we were so lucky with the weather.  There were only a couple of minor issues such as the kitten at Kilndown that continually followed every group that passed by and the dogs near Swattenden that didn’t take kindly to one of our students dressed in the lion suit.

Many thanks are due to:

  • The Estates team for marshalling the road crossings all day
  • Graeme and the catering team for supplying the BBQ lunch on route
  • The site team for helping with transport
  • Charlotte French for getting all the sheets ready
  • The Yr 13s for marshalling the footpaths and helping with the admin in the Sports hall
  • Simon Young-Min, Liz Coleman, Elly Hills, Richard Holden and James for helping on the day
  • The Barham and medical staff for helping on the day
  • And the accounts dept who will sort out the money!

Well done everyone.
