The England Netball Camp was a huge success, and attracted many netballers from both senior and junior teams. We were fortunate enough to be coached on that day by ex-England captain Amanda Newton and Natalie Seaton, a current Surrey Storm player. The day was split up into a series of workshops in order to target players’ needs, and the morning began with an attacking workshop. Players worked on dodging, foot work and centre passes. A shooting practice also took place, and despite the fact that there was only a minority of shooters present at the camp, many girls really enjoyed taking part, with some proving to be promising shooters for the future! The defence workshop consisted of a series of team exercises and drills to focus our minds on holding players and working on key interceptions. The day then ended in a two hour game session, in order to put our newly learnt skills into play. Girls from a variety of years played against each other, and at the end of the day, the standard was extremely high, and it was clear that we had all learnt valuable skills. We are really looking forward to taking these skills and using them in matches against other teams in our upcoming season, and the England Camp really catalysed our energy and excitement for our season ahead. Best senior player was Izzy Woolgar and best junior player, Izzy Ross.
