Horsley Girls
House Pastoral Review October 2010
Summary and Conclusion

Summary
Liz Coleman and Horsley Girls have built, very strongly on the sound base which was created during her acting stewardship.  The house is clearly flourishing and all the reviewing team reported on the lively and positive atmosphere, welcoming inductions and the supportive framework that the house provides.

Standards have improved in the last couple of years and there is a very clear line between the friendly closeness of the house and the standards set by Head of House and staff.  Much thought is given to this and the quality of what goes on at meeting times, whether tutorial or assembly.

There are one or two slight issues for the Head of House and her team to tease out from the questionnaire responses but, by and large, these were overwhelmingly positive.  The social dimension of the house, too, has slowly expanded under Liz’s stewardship and it is good to record how many of the senior girls, particularly the House Captain are recognised and valued by those younger in the house.  This feature of pupil integration is one for which the house should be particularly commended.

Conclusion
Horsley Girls is a house which is in very good shape indeed.  It has been a pleasure to conduct this review and Liz Coleman and her team should be congratulated on a happy and successful house.
