We cover the AQA Drama specification. For this qualification the pupils undertake a Coursework component which is 60% of the exam and covers work of a practical nature. The remaining 40% of the exam is a written paper taken in the summer of Year 11 at the end of the course.
In the Practical component pupils produce their own devised work, and present scenes from a variety of published texts. Design options in such skills as Lighting, Sound, Costume, Make-Up, Set Design, and Stage Management can also be investigated.
In the two hour written exam pupils can chose from a range of questions on Set Texts and aspects of performance from productions seen during the course.
Over the two years pupils' experience of Drama is enriched by a wealth of opportunities outside of the classroom. Workshops are provided by visiting professional companies. There are theatre visits and further opportunities for taking part in school productions.
